Barrel Aged Arkham's Finest

On tap in STL. This says it is no longer brewed, but the place I had it - the menu says it is a “seasonal” with no name, and when I was asked was informed it was a black IPA, which this most definitely is not, it is barrel aged stout material. This beer seems to match what I am drinking, which is a dark, velvety, chocolate/coffee stout with a heavy dose of bourbon/whiskey barrel. The only mild negative is it comes across a little thin in feel, but trying to do barrel aged at 8.5 is no easy task. Glad to have tried it, even though I cant be 100% sure it is what I am drinking.

On tap at the brewery. Served in a half pint glass. Pours a dark black body, one finger brown head, short retention, small wispy lacing. Smells of dry bourbon, milk chocolate, oak, touch of espresso, mild roast. Flavour is similar; milk chocolate, touch of fudge, bit of oak, mild coffee bean, a bit of roast, fair bit of bourbon that warms you up a little bit. Mouthfeel is medium-thin, lower carbonation, a sipper. Plenty of flavour, but I would argue that the body doesn't quite hold up to the barrel as well as it should.
