Pours jet black with maybe a finger height total of mocha colored foam. Head dissipates quickly, revealing a heavy caramel oil on top. Aroma is thick roasty and toasty malts dunked into char, bourbon, and dark chocolate. Fragments of baker's chocolate, caramel, and leather help round out the heft of the nose. Flavor profile is baker's chocolate, caramel, light vanilla, and boozy roasty and toasty malts. Bourbon is present, adding heft and might, but not cranking the thermostat (adding heat.) Mouth feel is thick. Texture is a very fine silt suspended in a soft effervescence. Overall, the depth on this is incredible. Massive malt notes meet barrel without either being shy about its personality, and yet the family reunion remains unspoiled due to differences in opinion. Very fun to sip.

Poured from a 12oz can into a SP LC tumbler. Pours a thick and oily black with a thin layer of dark brown foam head. Bourbon and oak up front followed by chocolate and light vanilla and even lighter dark fruits. Taste follows. Lots of bourbon, oak and chocolate up front. Still get a little bit of dark fruits on the finish. Big, thick mouthfeel. Very low carbonation. This is a massive beer. Love the extra aging and no adjuncts. Simply letting the base beer and the barrel-aging process do all the talking. Big fan.
