Nice clean red ale, balanced and smooth but not exciting.

On tap at Shepherd Park Draught House, in Houston. I believe the brewery categorizes this as an Irish Red Ale, but their website is ambiguous at best.
A: Pours a clear, but dark ruby red color. A bubbly white head forms to less than a finger. Then fizzles in a second with no lace.
S: Sweet malts up front, caramel, then some bread. A light slick bitterness in the finish.
T: Sweet caramel malts. That becomes more bread and grainy like and eventually a slick nondescript bitterness in the finish.
M/D: A light body, with moderate carbonation. A slick and oily feel, not nearly as smooth and textured as I would like. I struggled to finish this, and move on. Probably not something I am getting again.
Maybe good as a gateway after you have had Killian's, but nothing more. Pretty ho hum and mediocre. Nothing particularly intriguing, if non offensive.

Had this at the brewery. Not bad, not great. I prefer their IPA and Pale Ale to this one, but wouldn't turn this one down.

On tap at Republic House in DP/Pasadena. I'm not sure if this is an old keg or if it was just a shitty made beer. Either way I didn't want to finish my glass. Thankfully it was only a 4oz pour as part of my flight.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
