Brasserie de La Lanterne "Strato"
€3,20/25cl on tap at the brewery on 18 September 2021
Notes: This may have formerly been called "Stratocaster". This is not an American amber ale, but a European ambrée. I cannot tell if it is an ale or a lager, but it seems like an ale due to the level of fruitiness that's present.
Look: Mostly clear and deep amber-copper in color. The head is an average-sized cap of off-white foam. The head retention and lacing are both very good and short mountains of lace rise above the liquid along the inside wall fo the glass.
Smell: Clean with a hint of caramel and and apple-like yeastiness that's backed by some mild grassiness.
Taste: Bready and toasty with a mild caramel note to the malt. Otherwiae fruity with some apple and other light orchard fruits. Grassy. Stiffly bitter with a short lingering finish that brins out some grassy and herbal hops once the malt has faded.
Overall: While it's nothing special in terms of style, it is a nicely done amber ale that's well-rounded and balanced, and quite quaffable.
