6 Month old Shake and Stutter was aged in a French oak barrel that had previously been used to ferment 4 red wines. 6 different yeast strains and 50 pound of Montmorency cherries were utilized in the process.

After 4 or 5 months of not being able to get out (open on Saturdays only), I finally had a chance to pick some growlers up from Bloom Brew.

This is the type of beer I have been waiting for in the western PA area. It appeals to my palate. So keep that in mind when reading this review. (That is my admission that this rating is going to be skewed high.)

Pours kind of a mildly red hued slightly darker brown. Pretty much no head. Nose makes me horny. I'm getting so much here and it comes in waves. Clear wild yeast mixed with oak accents. Wine is peeking out too; whatever it was it was red. Clear cherry influence. All of it comes together to mesh into a really interesting experience. Keep in mind that I am only talking about the nose here people.

The flavor. Lactic tones are certainly showing. Hints of the fruit are there as earthy accents. Kind of a Flemish thing going on. Which I am all in favor of. Let's call it an American Flemish ale? Or just call it a really nice brew. I mean you could call it a cow turd for all I care. A rose by any other name...

Great beer. A bit thin in the body, but who cares. Also the flavor profile fades much quicker than I would like, but who cares. For a brewery that has only been open a few months to be able to put out something of this calibre...that says something. Perhaps the very small batch production thing is working in their favor. Either way, this brewery is on my radar. I have two growlers of hoppy productions that I won't be able to drink until tomorrow, unfortunately. I am eagerly anticipating trying them to see if this is really going to be a brewery to watch. Don't let me down BB!
