On tap at brewery:
A scratched up glass holds many points for gas to escape its liquid bonds. This mostly clear liquid has a light brown color that has a little bit of rust added. The head is off-white with the same rustiness, and well sustained in this glass.
A toasty malt sweetness brings with it scents that remind an early fall evening with some pine and wet leaves. There’s an indistinguishable berry note, with a light hint of acidity.
The wood and light toast hit up front. A little sweet malt and that berry note sneak in, but a piney bitterness weighs in by mid-taste. A bit of a wort-like sweetness battles the hop bitterness. A medium body that has a bold flavor profile with medium-light carbonation.
The style description on this site indicates American Strong Ales can be similar to Old Ales or Barleywines. This seems to fall in the American version of the latter, to me.
