Our flagship IPA brewed with Amarillo, Zythos, Chinook, Centennial, Columbus, and Horizon hops is a cross between a traditional west coast IPA and a slightly maltier English style IPA. Massive late hop additions lend bright, citrus and pine aromas with an earthy malt finish with just the right amount of bitterness for the style.

On tap at the brewery into a nonic glass. Reviewed from notes dated May 23, 2017.
A-The beer is a nice, brassy orange color and nearly clear; just a chill haze to obscure my view. A short white head on my pour fades to a film of foam that hangs around the glass and leaves waves of lacing as I drink.
S-The aroma is an old-school blend of caramel and toffee malts with hints of sticky, earthy hops, notes of citrus (orange mostly), and a bit of a rough, dry sawdust note.
T-You wouldn't know it from the smell, but the taste is a little rough. I pick up some bread crust, that same earthy sawdust bitterness, a flavor that suggest grain husk, and an odd buttery note. Hints of lime are there too, but they are lost among the sea of off flavors.
M-The body is medium in heft with a very active, prickly carbonation.
O-The off flavors really surprised me. I gave a few good sniffs and thought, this is just an old school IPA, but something happened here that is giving this beer some seriously funky flavors. I almost wonder if the tap line was dirty, but the high level of carbonation suggests that this batch of beer might be off kilter? I dunno, but I don't need any more.

On-draught @ Iron Bird.
Floral and somewhat fruity. Not a lot of subtle Mosaic blueberry here. Pale malts keep her balanced for the most part.

One of our best IPAs in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Iron Bird is a little over a year old now and is doing well -- now to the beer. Pours a hazy deep amber. Smells of pine and citrus in equal measures. Not a lightweight IPA in the mid to upper 6% (depends on batch). But also not a lumberjack - smooth, balanced, with just the right aromatics, pretty satisfying. Mouthfeel is good, and carbonation is on the lower side, but is solid. They also occasionally do cask IPA (since one of their features is offering cask English ales with a real hand pump). Try it out sometime. Their DIPA is also good (Deadstick). UPDATE 5.4.17 - latest batch is now 7.0% and a bit harsh. Almost had a rye taste/whiff to it. Strange, not sure if it's just a bad batch or if they are changing the IPA line-up. (Their new IPA, Palermo, I thought was much better -- see separate review).
