On tap at the brewery into a nonic glass. Reviewed from notes dated May 23, 2017.
A-My beer arrives with a short white head that fades to cap, which hangs around for a while and leaves a little wave or two of lacing on the glass. There is light chill haze, but the beer is nearly clear. It is a rusty orange color with a few bubbles floating up the glass.
S-The aroma is mild and pleasant with smells of buttered toast, some toffee, a bit of cereal grain and hints of honey sweetness. Very light hop aromas provide just a hint of earthy bitterness.
T-The taste mostly tracks the smell. There are flavors of biscuit, toasted bread, hints of honey, and a mild earthy flavor. The beer is pretty dry for the style and a little more malt fruitiness would really help the score.
M-The heft is light to medium with a fine, semi-crisp carbonation. I would prefer a little more creaminess since it is just a little rough around the edges on the palate.
O-This is not a bad beer and I would drink it again if I was in the mood for beer that I did not have to think about too much.

Tried this beer in a flight with Black Auger Stout, Whipstall (Cask) Slumlord (Cask) and Prop IPA.
I enjoyed this beer in combination with the others.

its a shame this is the only beer listed on here that i had at iron bird, because its easily the worst of the ones i had, and i dont think its indicative of what these guys are up to. very cool spot to visit as well, super nice folks, and some solid beers. unfortunately, this isnt really one of them. drawn from the cask, it loses its head pretty quickly, and is so devoid of aroma and flavor as to almost not seem much like a beer. there is a mild european type hoppiness on the back end, but it never really takes off for me. watery in texture too, it needs more carbonation to do its job, and its not the hand pull that leaves it that way, its just not taken any gas at all into suspension. i think this is their take on an english mild, but for me it just doesnt get there. loved their red and the others i tastes there, but this one seems far more amateur than their others.
