Review from BeerAdvocate magazine issue #113 (JUN 2016)
Roasty, Coffee, Chewy, Warming
This spiced vanilla Imperial Coffee Stout has me feeling like I’m in line at a well known coffee shop ordering a guilty pleasure. Without a doubt the brawny Stout character flexes its roastiness throughout, and the coffee compliments and melds well with it. The spicing is a bit one-dimensional though and the vanilla is pretty faint. But subtle is better than any one trait going overboard, and this is a massive Stout. Yeah, we’re having fun here even if there is a bit less dazzle than expected. [Jason]

Bomber split between two Dogfish Head goblets. Poured hard.
L- black with tinges of very dark brown around the edges. Very thin khaki head. No lacing.
S- very pleasant. Tons of coffee and burnt caramel.
T- Roasty. Espresso with cream and sugar. Lingering dark chocolate that plays well with the hop bitterness
F- full bodied. Smooth. Could benefit from a tad more carbonation, but that's nitpicking.
O- this is a great beer. I've had this a few times and the level of coffee flavor seems to vary a bit, but it's been an extremely pleasurable experience every time. This batch is more well balanced while still having LOADS of coffee in there. (The first time I had this beer, it was a coffee bomb, but I wasn't complaining). As a relatively new brewery, I think they were still experimenting with the recipe. They have it nailed now! Freaking delicious!
