A: Pours a very lightly hazy pale golden yellow in color with a light to moderate amount of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and faint medium yellow + lemon yellow colored highlights. The beer has a half finger tall dense foamy white head that slowly reduces to a small patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of spicy saison yeast with hint of clove over a light aroma of wheat + pale malts with a hint of grainy sweetness.
T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of wheat + pale malts with a hint of grainy sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of spicy saison yeast and a hint of clove. Light amounts of bitterness are present.
M: Light to medium bodied with just shy of moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol but the typical saison yeast flavors are a little more muted than in my preferred examples of the style. Seems simple (lacks complexity) but still enjoyable.

Blue Collar Brewery Inc. "Saison"
on tap at the brewery on 1 September 2018
Notes: Slightly hazy golden-amber in color beneath a finger-thick head of white foam. The aroma is typically Belgian with some clove and spice and soft fruit over a basic, sweetish golden malt base. The flavor follows. It's nicely balanced by a moderate bitterness level (listed at 18 IBUs) and it finishes dry and lightly spicy. Basic but well done.
