Appearance - Pours hazy and with a slightly burnt orange color with an off-white, near finger width head that dissipates fairly quickly, leaving a mostly barren surface and a razor thin ring around the edge of the glass. Not much for lacing; just a random spot or two.
Smell - Orange, stonefruit pit , passionfruit and a bit of grapefruit sitting beneath.
Taste - Slight juicy and yeasty notes upfront; orange and a hint of passionfruit. Bitterness creeps in mid-taste in the form of stonefruit pit, grapefruit and a hint of pine. Grapefruit strengthens in the finish and leaves a bitter, pithy aftertaste with a hint of yeastiness.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with a fair amount of carbonation. Smooth and drinkable, but sits heavy in the finish.
Overall - Much more of a hazy West Coast than NE-style IPA. It's pretty tasty, but doesn't quite fit the style that they were going for. Simply put, good beer overall but not for the style.
