Pours a big, frothy slush in the Scotch Ale thistle. Dark brown brew with light beige foam. This is described as a "Robust Porter with lactose." So it's more like a Milk Stout than anything else. Dark and raspy taste with the sugar in front. A dark fruitcake with a bitter edge.
Aroma is not strong, but more roasted malt. Big caramel taste and I think of dark chocolate. But sweeter with some burnt sugar in the aftertaste along with a bitter edge. Interesting grainy flavor but more like cocoa drink. From the 16 oz can purchased at the brewpub.
