Red Hill Station is a Roggenbier, which is a German-Style Rye Ale. Ours pours a beautiful hazy ruby brown with a full tan head. It has aromas burnt sugar and mild clove. On the palate it has a nice rye spice with flavors of vanilla, anise, molasses, and a dry slightly roasted finish. A nice hearty seasonal beer @ 5.0%!

I did just pick up this beer because of the raccoon on the can - but I bought this beer because I was curious about Roggenbier: I’m a big fan of rye bread. On the pour, very excite-able, formed a tan head instantly. Not Ruby in color - it came out opaque and black as the can itself! First aroma was of copper, very faint hint of bread or malt but that may be placebo effect. The first thing I noticed about taste was the carbonation! Makes your nose fizzle and definitely not expected with such a dark looking beer. I would say apart from that, it kind of tastes like copper bread seltzer. Like a less bitter Guinness-cola! A bit underwhelming for the adventure of trying a new beer style.

Pours a ruby dark brown with a big, 3" tan head that slowly recedes in big chunks with excellent lacing. Overall, super good looking. Nose is big on rye and spice, pumpernickel bread, light molasses. Taste is spicy rye, brown sugar, molasses, black pepper, dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is on the thick side with small, prickly carbonation. Overall, a very pleasant beer of an underrepresented style.

A: The beer is very dark brown in color (black when viewed from afar) and only has faint traces of reddish brown at the bottom of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a finger high dark beige colored head that gradually died down and left a quarter finger high head covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of candi sugars and present in the nose along with notes of wheat and hints of black cherries.
T: The taste follows the smell except that the candi sugars also lend hints of sweetness and there are some hints of spicy rye towards the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink but has a light amount of candi sugar-like sweetness that you would expect from a dubbel. It's a nice sessionable beer for the colder months.
