my first from these guys, and one that i would like to eventually try from the bottle. i had it from cask, and that really didnt seem like the right format for a saison like this, that with the citrus and everything seems to almost demand effervescence, and without it, felt kind of lifeless and still, hopefully i get the chance to try the bottle at some point. this was a bit hazy and not as bright as i wanted it to be. the yuzu has a candied sort of sweetness to it, but is quite pungent and distinctively yuzu. the beer has a wheaty base, kind of raw, and light even though its a bit flat, its not real heavy or starchy or anything, even though it looks like it should be. subtle metallics, vanilla, and white pepper notes, the yeast is kind of subtle for a saison, and i kind of want more from it to balance the robust citrus in here, which ramps up toward the finish. its hard to judge a cask beer in the normal sense, especially on feel, so i wont be too harsh on this one, but i definitely had much higher hops for it. a little one dimensional in a style that should be anything but...

330ml bottle poured into a snifter.

Mildly hazed golden amber color, it tops with thick frothy white head that stays for a short while before sinking to some foamy film and leaving limited amount of lacing.

In a nose, typical mustiness of Saison together with lots of spice, orange peel, citrus, herbal, floral, fruity yeast, and hay yet biscuity malt.

The taste is just exactly like the aroma but with some bitterness from hop at the end.

Light body with quite smooth mouthfeel and lively crisp carbonation through the palate, the feeling is refreshing with a pleasantly dry finish.

Yuzu orange Saison, it is very easy to drink and refreshing.
