16oz pounder, marked 5% alcohol and as a Pale Ale, not an IPA

A bit hazy, yellow/yellow-orange, a head like soap foam and plenty of lace stuck to the glass. Smells like lemon, weed, mango, and peach... An amazing scent. It has a nice crisp bite to go along with a very hoppy and drinkable beer. Just sweet and malty enough to match the heaping helping of hops. A great pale ale

2017 notes:

Oliphant Lizardize Mariguanas. India Pale Ale. w/ amarillo, citra, warrior, wakatu hops.
6% alc. by vol.
Oliphant Brewing, Somerset, WI.

This IPA, along with Dg2c2mf, the rye saison, reviewed here when I had it on tap, is among the first Oliphant beers released in 16 oz. cans. Both of these brews were also the first Oliphant beers brewed at the Barley John's Brewing Company facility in New Richmond, Wisconsin.

Lightly hazed, amber-hued, large whitish head.

In the nose: soft, slightly spicy, citric. Very nice.

In the mouth: big hop bitterness greets the palate first, bold, spicy, citrus-y. Just right for a Hophead like Me. Long, hoppy, bitter finish. Medium body. Lots of flavor. I dub thee delicious.

Honestly, I dig it for real. I also have this one on tap at Acadia, and I wasn't going to take notes from a pint on tap there, I just had to get my hands on the cans. It's terrific both ways. And one day I will talk to artist Jeremy Hughes and find out the story of those lizardized mariguanas. And what is a mariguana. And why they needed to be lizardized. But, I won't worry about it too much before then.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on November 11, 2018. Double dry hopped with Wakatu, Amarillo, Warrior and Citra hops. Appealing nose and a hoppy upfront bite, with a smooth finish.

This beer pours a slightly hazy pale with a solid head. The aroma is bright and vibrant, with pineapple, peach, mango, passionfruit, grass clippings, cannabis, and clementine flesh. The flavor is ripe and flesh with pineapple, passion fruit, mango, white peach, clementine, and just a hint of cannabis. The mouthfeel is bright, with very fizzy carbonation. Overall a really sensational and vibrant beer, with bold flavors, but good balanced, and just enough bitterness.

Poured from 12oz can into glass. No dating information found.
Murky, brown/apricot colored body. Half finger creamy white head, which persists. Leaves behind sheets of lacing.
Tropical fruit in the smell - orange, mango, and a little pineapple. Some sweet toffee.
Flavors of orange (soda and fruit), tangerine, mango, and a little pineapple. Toffee/caramel come in at the end. Mostly sweet, with a little hop burn.
Medium to thick mouth feel. Okay carbonation. Rather a quick taste profile.
Sweeter, fruity IPA, and low on bitterness.

From a 16oz can:

Appearance: Hazy gold, good head.

Smell: Sweet, tropical fruit, citrus.

Taste: Nicely fruity-sweet to start, then more of a combination of tropical fruit and citrus. Moderate citrus bitterness.

Overall: Cans instead of crowlers for this beer. A nicely fruity IPA from an eccentric brewery. Good to see cans around the metro!

L-Burnt orange. Looks good in the glass.

S-Very nice aroma of fresh cut flowers (rose hips) , citrus (tangerines) and tropical fruits (passion fruit)....deeper in some toffee...

T-Taste begins with a strong toffee maltiness with raisin impressions as well.....I expected more hops from the aroma but just slight hints of oranges, pineapple and passion fruit.

F-Medium bodied...spot on carbonation.

O-This is a solid/good beer....balanced and to me a bit heavy handed with the toffee malt but still enjoyable.
