There are a number of variations of the Honees Honees recipe. This is the Maple Bourbon Barrel-Aged version. This is labeled as a peanut butter & honey golden ale.
Pours clear amber with a healthy head that leaves no traces. Aroma is butterscotch; you know those yellow hard candies your grandmother had in the clear wrapper that kinda tasted like butterscotch? That's the aroma. There is a sweetness and a faint, faint hint of maple. Taste is light, clear and sweet. If there's any bourbon here, I can't detect it. If this was barrel-aged, I can't tell. If there's peanut butter here, I can't taste it.
Having said all that this is a very interesting and good beer. The ABV, while only 6.6%, is well controlled. It is highly refreshing. It's difficult to say that a beer nowadays is unique, but this is unique. By end of this can of beer, I'll be wanting another, just to try to figure out what the heck I just drank.
