Dark brown pour, appears opaque in the glass; patchy, thin and wispy head, tan. Great dark roasted grain scent infused with notes of dark chocolate and whiskey. Big dark malt and bourbon flavors; chocolate; whiskey and dried white oak. Heavy, viscous body; dense and slippery; tons of boozy heat and warmth.
This is a wonderful, powerhouse barrel aged imperial stout. It delivers straightforward malty, boozy character. I like bold and simple wrapped up in one beautiful package.
ABV: 13.5%; pouring temperature: 49 °F: canning info: n/a

Auxiliary vice: James B. Bean Distillery -- Baker's 7 - Single Barrel

From a 16oz can purchased at the brewery. No date on the can.
This beer pours pitch black, like others in the series. No chance of any light shining through this beer. The head is tan colored and 1 finger. The head retention is poor, but fairly expected for the ABV, and amount of barrel aging. There's no lacing on the glass.
Aroma is so rich. I get tons of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, toffee, dark fruit, and hints of the barrels used. These aromas are quite pleasing and really mesh together well.
Taste - Wow. layers of flavor here. caramel and toffee start it off. Chocolate and vanilla then hits. The dark fruits - plum/raisin - hits on the back. Notes of the barrels used also mesh in the flavor profile.
The body is smooth and full feeling. Thick and syrupy feeling. There's a burn, but it is slight, just warming really.
Damn amazing beer from them. Am I surprised it's good? Nope.
