I got a can of this beer off the single shelf from my local Giant Eagle store. It poured a clear copper with thin white head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had sweet potatoes and earth aromas. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet butternut malt base and bitter earth and root vegetable presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

L: Hazy orange-amber with small head but lasting lace. Plenty of carbonation.
S: Pecan ice cream with a cinnamon back.
M: Slight creaminess. Noticeable alcoholic after taste along with a sweet "candy".
T: It's as advertised. I like Yammy Yammy, and indeed, there is a lot of pecan nuttiness to this and it's sweeter, more of a treat beer.
O: I'm not sure I'd get this again as the sweeter beers are not my flavor and I'd rather have a Yammy Yammy, but this certainly would make fans of less bitter and more sweet with a higher ABV very happy.

If they were going for quite a tasty yam-based beer I can get on board with this considering it's pumpkin season. Not very herbal or bitter flavors smooth sweet graham cracker brown sugar vanilla and just a mild herbal taste of sweet potato. Finish is a bit boozy as expected for almost 8%
Overall I've tried only a handful of platforms beers but this one is memorable well beyond average

Nothing warms up a house quite like candied yams with pecans, and the brewers at Platform Beer sets their seasonal sights on putting that warmth into a beer glass. Woven together with the flavor additions of pumpkin pie spice, brown sugar, sweet potato and pecans, and their fall beer is ready for family feasts.

Hazy gold and with a shade of amber, Candied Pecan Yammy builds a frothy cap that rapidly pops to expose a plethora of fall spice perfumes. With the scent of pumpkin pie and caramel drifting about the nose, the taste leads in with a carmelized, honey-like and strong granola presence as the malts lead the way early and often on the tongue.

As the flavors unfold, its those spices of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove that billow on the middle palate and soon dwarf the casual maltiness. With the sweetness holding serve, the taste turns spicy, sharp and bitter. A late taste of nutty bitterness links up with the bitter spices and woodsy hops for an unnecessary bite that's every bit as perfumy in taste as it is in fragrance.

Medium bodied and slightly full from the linger of grain sweetness, the fall beer eventually relaxes its bitterness as it pummels the tastebuds into submission. A floral, spicy and bitter finish proves to be distracting to the pleasantries of the praline succulence that's established early in taste. A long lasting aftertaste of over-mulled spices continue to plague the beer's overall impression.

Like the S'mores variant, this offering is much sweeter than the original.

Unlike the S'mores variant, this offering is not hampered by a hyper-artificial taste.

It has an almost liquid pecan pie flavor. Which, I suppose, is the point.

Canned on 8/2/20. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with some clarity; creamy off-white head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have spices leading the way. There's a nice amount of ginger. Some caramel and veggies. Malts are there. The aromas are balanced but not faint. The aromas aren't extreme but they're not faint at all. The aromas become a little more complex as it warms a bit. The flavors basically follow the nose. More ginger leading the way. Some cinnamon and allspice. Some yams and sweet potatoes. Hints of brown sugar and graham crackers in the mix. Subtle bitterness. It's really not sweet. Malts do their thing. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed for the most part. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of full-bodied with active carbonation. It's sharp, fluffy and smooth.

This is a pretty solid brew. The spices shine, for what it's worth. This is similar to what you'd get from a pumpkin ale and it's obviously fitting for the fall season. Not bad at all. It's enjoyable stuff. I like it.
