12oz can - no date apparent
Rich copper color with a 1/4" head that recedes to a cap quickly.
Malty aroma, some fruit and a whiff of coffee.
Coffee up front but w/o a roasty element. Faint hint of vanilla under sweet-ish malt flavors.
Easy to drink, not super complex but the coffee plays well in this lighter beer. Medium body and carbonation.
Surprise. I wasn't sure what to expect and wasn't sure if I'd care for it. Well made, unique TX beer.

cool beer, multiple yeast pitches according to the website, which i think is always a fun and adventurous endeavor. the beer is nice, richer in color and body than are most cream ales, and i have mixed feelings on it. not much darker than golden, but it definitely isnt yellow. short lived three quarters of an inch of white head. the nose here is just a little bland, mostly pale and maybe some pils malt, and there has to be just a pinch of a lighter crystal to account for this color. a light toasted element is there in the front of the flavor, and i like the depth it brings. maybe not as much a classic example of a cream ale, its a bit too interesting for that, but its good. it still has the creamy pale base so it though, so its not way off. its the fuller body that makes it a little strange for the style, bigger and maybe a little sweet. i definitely taste the lager yeast too which is a great addition, bready and crisp at the same time, it fights the sweetness well. popping carbonation also helps. overall this is definitely a new twist on the style with the slightly darker color to it and the multiple yeasts. well made beer. i was a fool to think "irish cream" like the liquor, and get really excited for this beer. its good as it is, but not the most traditional cream ale.
