Well it's hard to get more German than this one! We were presented the opportunity to brew with a fest malt called Ursprung ("origin" in translation) that was grown in Germany and malted in the U.S. by Epiphany Craft Malt. This malt is usually reserved for Ayinger Brau and Augustiner Brau, so we're lucky to have gotten the chance to brew with it. Hopped with Hallertauer Mittelfruh to give it that familiar German edge. Prosit!

Medium light haze with a head that fades to near nothing, though it takes some time. Unfortunately it’s not easily coaxed back into being. The feel is lightly carbonated, so it’s just a lack of sustained bubbles at issue.
It’s hard to get much from the nose, perhaps due to limited carbonation. A mildly sweet honey aroma with a slight twang is the best I can decipher. Taste has a hint of the twang, but more honey grain bread with the thinnest swath of orange marmalade is how I perceive it. Ever so subtle hits of stone fruit and lemongrass play in. Even though I get fruit notes, it’s not overly fruity or juicy. It’s more like a very lightly sweetened fruit tea.
