November 13th, 2015 - Here's an example of what happens when the carbonation in a nose gets in the way of everything else the beer has to offer. A nice clarity is visible in the goblet and a decent head too, with the swerving meniscus of a body leaving a nice ring higher up the interior of the glass. The lemon on the nose is apparent first, with a slight cleaning product freshness, and a bit of lime. Fresh, but not always fruity. The palate is sudsy, and then on the second and third impression I re-notice the carbonation, which is too much. The overworked body leaves only a little room for the slight sourness with an odd but welcome taste of Captain Crunch, but the palate is too distracting for what they might be trying to do.

I think this is my last review from the July 2016 trip to Toolbox.

Pours a golden color with above average clarity for a gose. I dunno if they're hazy because of the salinity content, the wheat or both, but this one looked pretty clear with a 1/5" thin white head on the top. Aroma had a slight spice rack and wheat/grain smell to it, with of course lemon for sour notes.

Taste was predictable for Toolbox: more sour than average, but a fun enjoyable drink. The stronger sour profile really dominated any salty aspect of the mouth feel. Its relatively cleaner than most goses, but I don't think that makes it better or worse, its just what it is. Plenty of flavor for something with a good amount of levity to it. A full pour was only $5, 8oz was only $3, that's good stuff. At the end of the day, its a pretty traditional example of style, aside from the amplified sourness. Would recommend if they do it again with the re-launch.

Had this at the brewery over the weekend. Clear copper color with barely any head. Smell is light salt and coriander. Maybe a touch of wheat in there as well. Taste is pretty much the same. Clean, light tangy flavor, cereal and graininess. Wouldn't put this in the top tier of goses but it's a pretty solid effort.
