Here we go again with another review from the week of July 11, 2016 at the Toolbox Tasting Room. This is somehow the 1st beer review of said beer on BA. Zero karma points for that though.
Pours a color similar to Briar (blackberries), has that purple vibe throughout it. Blueberry juice if you will. Thin off white head 1/5" of a pinkish dimension. Even with a below average size head, the color is good enough to get me excited. Aroma was dry oak and lemon blueberry sour.
Taste brings even more pronounced lemon blueberry sourness, but stays on the softer side acidity wise. Had a nice red wine companion note, the oak and tannins really produce a super dry backend despite the color and juiciness making one think otherwise. Its a little cleaner than say, blabaer, but it was a totally reasonable substitute for such a beer. Not a lot separating this blueberry sour from other ones made by Cascade/Bruery/Ithaca. All in all enjoyable and worth the $8 pours.
