Had this in May 2017 on the way back from the Baja trip, at the source.
This is one also labeled a berliner weisse in their taproom, but prolly more accurately, a wild ale here. Pours amber, 1/3" off white head. I'm hoping this was yellow when brewed, and the fruit additions gave the beer its darker color as opposed to this being a potential malty mess. The aroma is fruity berries and lemon sourness.
Taste is pretty much a fruit juice wild ale, so I think BA got it right here. Orange and that artificial purple grape note. I like the beer, but there isn't much perceptible wheat, dryness, sourness relatable to a berliner weisse. As a wild ale, it does the standard sour fruit thing with a clean impression. I didn't think it had all that dry of a finish. The use of the malbec grapes gave this a slight wine & beer mashup feel to it. Fun drink in good weather. I only ever got these on tap, as the bottle price was a little steep in my book, but the pours were fair.

32oz Growler fill $10 on 26Aug2017; enjoyed same day in double wall glass.
L: Cranberry juice clear reddish pink with light carbonation and fluffy pink head that, alas, almost completely dissipates.
S: Earthly wheat fields and sweet, inviting table wine
T: Beautifully balanced funky, sour, wheaty sangria…. As advertised… grapes and orange on the tongue as very natural as if I soaked the fruit myself. Nice dry sour finish as if to make up for the balance in the mouth.
F: Light with medium carbonation and the sour funk mingling.
O: I’m sorry I only got a quart… just beautiful… I want a gallon jug ice cold on a hot, humid day in the Deep South while smelling a bbq going.

this is really good beer, and insanely fairly priced compared to its peers. i really liked this a lot. its a berliner base type, brewed with malbec grapes and oranges, and its super unique, really quite unlike any other berliners i have had, even fruited ones, and really does have an honest and authentic sangria taste to it. other sour beers from thee guys have beer super acidic, almost at the expense of drinkability, but this finds a lighter balance, and i think its better. lemon tang, clean lacto, not sharp or harsh at all, and the beer seems delicate and refined because of it. the fruit stains the beer a pale violet shade, and it holds a nice little pinkish white head on it. the grapes have some tang and some sweet in the nose, skins and flesh together, with a nice sort of essential oil citrus with it, an uncommon fruit combo, especially in beer, but it works really well in the taste, owing largely to the originality and authenticity of the malbec grapes specifically i think. they bring a wonderful flavor to this, and are highlighted perfectly by the yeast character and the bright orange. light in the feel, but very complex, also extremely drinkable. it truly does taste like sangria, a neat hybrid beer, and probably a really stellar berliner in its own right beneath all the fruit. definitely an impressive release, we had fun with this one!

Poured a pinkish red color with a small white head of foam. It smelled very fruity with tart notes. Slightly sour flavor with a very fruit-filled finish.
