32oz Growler fill $12 on 25Aug2017; enjoyed next day in double wall glass.
L: Purplish sums this up… deep and earthly purple, very close to completely opaque. Large bubbled off white (yes… purplish) head; minimal lacing and thin layer remains.
S: Hoppy and sweet boysenberry
T: The boysenberry is prominent here, with its sweet and tart flavors knocking down the creaminess. Very nice tart hop finish.
F: Medium with nice creaminess on the tongue and a little hop bite.
O: I had both this and Mashugana on an outdoor patio right in Vista; the fruit flies swarmed for Purplish while none were seen for Mashugana. This is a good beer, but it’s dominated by the boysenberry in sweetness/tartness. For the boysenberry or even sweetness lover this may be perfect. I’d go with the Mashugana given the choice for its perfect balance.
