Have you thought that when you turned an adult that you'd have to give up on the simple indulgences like candy, milkshake and creamsicle? Well, give up no more! Toolbox Brewing brings those favors to an alcohol laden IPA that basically fuses the worlds of push ups, sangria and IPA.
And equally as vivid as those neon orange creamsicles, the ale comes with a pastel orange glow. Opaque from its milky haze, a loose eggshell froth hugs the rim. Orange juice and heavy cream intertwine for a succulent citrus taste with the promise of ice cream and cannabis looming. Early sweetness borrows impressions of fructose from the simple sweetness of grain and portrays a honey, candied and near Circus Peanuts confection.
Equally as bright on the middle palate, the beer's pastry sweetness nestles onto the tastebuds and slathers the middle palate with a rich creaminess of orange smoothie. Red grapefruit, blood orange and a hint of lime roll seamlessly into impressions of agave, mango and dragonfruit for an exotic tropical flare. A smooth bitterness trends herbal, chivy and verbena-like and only adds to the beer's culinary mystique.
Medium bodied but remaining largely creamy throughout, the beer's milkshake-like consistency is spot on with the beer's label. Its smooth finish develops a pectin-like spice that's remiss of orange peel and perfume. A medium length aftertaste of orange and cream never wavers and invites another sip rather quickly.

This isn't bad, but just too sweet for me to be enjoyable as an IPA. Not bad, just not something I could drink more than one of, and wouldn't seek out again

A: Beer pours a cloudy orange juice like body. Small amount of bubbly white head at the beginning of pour. However, the head fades quickly leaving minimal lacing of head while drinking.
S: Aromas of the beer seem one dimensonal. Beer has the usual NEIPA style fruity notes. Not picking up any of the vanilla smells from the beer.
T: Nice amount of fruity orange flavors and vanilla tastes. The lactose adds a nice amount of sweetness along with the vanilla. Overall, the vanilla and lactose add nicely to the fruity flavors of the beer.
M: Nice thick mouthfeel for a beer of this style. The lactose adds to the creamy feel of the beer. The beer does have a slight bite that takes away from the total mouthfeel score.
O: This beer has many of the typical NEIPA flavors. Lactose and vanilla adds well to the overall sweetness of the beer.
