maybe my least favorite of the beers we had in here, i was a little confused by this one. the name is a funny joke about new zealand, and the logo on their chalkboard menu was the all blacks leaf, but this did not taste like it had new zealand hops in it to me. its pale yellow and clear, a lazy thin white head on top. it smells alright, not super hoppy though for an ipa, and without the tropical juicy nature of the hops from there that we are used to seeing. some citrus, mostly clean lemon without the acidity, is there in the nose, and a really light almost pils type malt base. the flavor has a slight soapy property to it, floral but maybe unintentional, and is very light on the hops, just a bit bitter in the later stages, but quite thin on the flavor. there really isnt much substance to this either, it seems too light for what it is, and confusing without a more robust new zealand hop profile. it was really low on flavor next to their wet hop ipa, which was amazing. all the beer here was very good, but this one was the least impressive in my opinion. not bad, i just need a more robust version!
