Came back and this scored better....

The first time... Did not score as well as their 8% Saison.
a) Pours still, wine like, orange-brown body with a thin rim.
s) Missing. But a trace of yeast, compost.
t) starts malt-forward, then yeast, grass, banana, clove.
f) Too sticky, pungent, not refreshing, cloying instead. Low carbonation. Boozy.
o) All the other Belford brews outscored this one.

I had this on draught at the brewery. It was served in a tulip glass. It pours a nearly opaque, orange-brown color, darker than I anticipated, with a thin, milk-white head and lacing. The nose was subdued. There was some spice but not much banana. The taste wasn't what I expected: it was much more malt-forward and while there was some spice, it wasn't the typical coriander and clove. I did taste some banana at the finish, along with a decidedly bitter taste that I couldn't quite place. It simply didn't taste like a typical tripel. There also wasn't as much carbonation as I expected but it is rather boozy at 9.4% ABV. Pro Multis had the highest BA rating of any Belford offering but it didn't taste like a tripel to me. Out of fairness, and because Belford's Brown Ale was quite good, I'll revisit this review.

From 09/13/14 notes. On tap at the brewery; my favorite of their beers so far.

Pours a murky bright orange color with one inch of bright white head and low carbonation evident. Apples, bananas, Belgian yeast, spices, cloves, caramel malts, and fruity malts. Bready malts in the nose and more fruit in the taste. Medium body and low carbonation. Definitely doesn't feel like 9.4% ABV.

Overall very nice and super easy to drink for such a high ABV. Their best beer to date, worth checking out for sure.
