Barna Brew "Ceci N´est Pas une IPA"
3,50€ / 33 cl. glass on tap @ Dr. Beer & Mr. Fried, Barcelona, ES on 26 November 2022
Look: A Very hazy deep amber body with golden highlights is capped by a short head of white foam. Average head retention and lacing.
Smell: Grainy, bready, and lightly caramelish with grassy, herbal, and fruity hops with notes of apple and mild orange.
Taste: The flavor follows the aroma. It's grainy, bready, and sweetish with just a hint of caramel. The hops are complex. It's grassy, a bit floral, and fruity with notes of apple, orange, grapefruit, melon, and berries. A strong bitterness leads to a dry finish that's earthy and woody with both pine and spruce.
Feel: Medium bodied and crisp with a standard carbonation level.
Overall: Is it an IPA? The bitterness alone should tell you that, but the complexity of the hops guarantees it.

I had this beer on-tap in a tall straight-sided glass at the brewery in Barcelona.
Appearance: nice copper hue with a light haze and a finger of tan foam atop.
Smell: toasty malt with a lemony, citrusy hop note. A bit heavy on the malt, but not bad.
Taste: sweet, toasty malt with some lemony hops and a somewhat high bitterness. Again, not bad, but not super exciting.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a decent belgian IPA, if not an exceptional one.
