Billed as a 'Black Saison', this beer pours a deep reddish mahogany with a light brown head that dissipates quickly, but clings to the edge of the glass. Shaking it around the glass, it clings to the edge a decent bit. Taking a sip, i. It has great syrupy mouthfeel, and a bright fruitiness to begin with, but that quickly is overcome by a kind of blunt bitterness that hangs on for the rest of the profile. It's a good but not a great saison -- it doesn't sparkle in the mouth quite like I would like and the fruitiness disappears too quickly. I would love to see Black Sands give the saison another go; they know what they're doing but there is room for improvement.
