L- Pours black, with a fleeting 2mm pale tan fine-bubble head. The head was short-lived but then again at 9.5% the surface tension of the liquid does not sustain bubbles well so I'm not surprised.
S- Roasty- toasty with a possible coffee note. - It's quite bold, but summer congestion is hindering me.
T- Oof! Wow yes this is pungent! ... it made me sneeze which occasionally happens on really full on tasting beers like this. It is seriously deeply roasted, with a bitterness and charring in parallel. Perhaps coffee that is so very pungent it kinda no longer resembles coffee much any more (like a hob-brewed ristretto coffee can).
F- Certainly in the top 1% of all beers I've had for pungency/intensity. I don't even register the 9.5%ABV though it's feel will be a foundation in the background. This is a slow-sipping beer... for sure!
O- I've had some stouts up to approx 18% ['Visit Iceland' hehe] that do not have the intensity of taste/feel as this one. Do not plan on registering anything from a lighter beer after this palate bull-dozer.
Bought from Bacchanalia, Mill Road, Cambridge 440ml can £4.99 BB: 01/12/22
