an organic saison from these guys with a nice citrus note to it, super light, and a seemingly perfect craft beer for the costa rican climate, which is super hot and humid, thick air, always sweating, so a delicate take on the style like this is just right. pale in color, looks like a wit, with a little haze and an orange zest note to the aroma along with the crackery dry white wheat. seems very light to me in the flavor, the grain is fresh but minimal, without the usual fluffy wheat feel to it at all. simply dry cereals as a base, with a citrusy bursts in the middle, not quite as sharp as lemon, sweet as orange, or bitter as grapefruit, maybe no fruit at all, but thats the flavor. the yeast is refreshing with a soft fruitiness of its own and a high capacity for fermentation, this is dry and a little stronger than many, super well carbonated, and very easy drinking, quick finishing, and refreshing. its maybe not as interesting as the saisons of the old world, but this feels like costa rica terroir to me, ideally constructed for the local setting, and i appreciate that a lot more than forced complexity or copycat brewing. delightfully different, i enjoyed it both on tap and in the bottle while i was there!
