S: It has an interesting fruity, roasty nose with some light funk, traces of coffee and low wet horse blanket.
L: It pours bright deep dark brown under a 1.5" light tan cap with a fine bead and moderate retention.
T: The palate starts very creamy and then an above average lemony tart sour comes forward. It finishes tart but gives way to chocolate. The roast flavors do not overpower the tartness but do provide balance. The oak is not real obvious but does contribute some mild vanilla and a trace of tannic astringency on the finish. Hop flavors and bitterness are low to medium low. Tartness is high to medium high.
F: It has a very creamy texture that interacts with the tartness and roast in interesting ways. The body is medium and the carbonation is very soft and above average.
O: This is an interesting and very different beer.
