A mild chill haze clears up to golden gradients under a lumpy white head that settles fairly quickly, leaving spotty chunks of fuzzy lace on the glass.

A balanced helping of brett exhibits an herbal grassiness with a little phenol before a touch of nutty toastiness.

Another bone dry exhibition by Mad Fritz, no ostentatiously American bomb of yeast is present, instead its fine froth offers an emerging brush with lemon rind over time.

Having this again, out of my own bottle six or so months later, it's fruitier than expected, particularly of passion fruit and other tropics, while also crazy drinkably balanced. In fact, it's much better than my original 4.15 score.

it kills me to see this beer so minimally talked about here, like two lousy ratings, no reviews, no photo, it just seems like another beer, but its anything but that, its truly special and unique, like all the beer these guys make, and it deserves some serious accolades, so i will do my best to describe it, its incredible, a beer i drove nearly five hours to drink, and paid 30 bucks for a bottle, and feel completely vindicated! stronger in ABV on the bottle than listed here. its pale rust colored, washed out looking with more and more sediment as we work through the swing top bottle, but never hazy or unrefined looking, short head but the chalice makes it dissipate faster it seems. its bretty in the nose, mature but not overrun, still malt driven the way a lot of their other beer is, which is to say not sweet but earthy and grainy and distinctive, minerals and terroir here, the high ingredient quality on full display. plain bagel, graham cracker, and white sesame seeds on the grain side, dried flowers and medicinal herbs from the hops, subtle yet distinctive funk on the fermentation side, super weird, but in line with old worldy saison types from the likes of dupont, de glazen toren, and blaugies, yeast forward in that way, wild but not sour, just a unique house ferment, sexy and awesome to me. its been in the bottle awhile, but its still lively. its a crying shame this beer will never get the recognition it deserves, as good as any domestically made saison i can recall. this is all i want to drink right now, i love mad fritz, and would recommend this to any serious beer drinker. i cant see enough about it, and really all these guys do. worth the effort and price, its stunning!
