This blended saison was matured in a gin barrel from our friends at Two Tall Distillery before receiving a light dry-hopping of Apollo and Motueka. The name itself is an obscure slang term for gin, likely dating to around 1751 when the Gin Act placed strict regulations on spirit production in Britain.

I'll be brief here as I drank this on draft and picked up a bottle of this at the source. So with that disclosure out of the way, I honestly thought this was a pretty nice gin barrel aged dry hopped beer. Slightly hazy golden yellow body, half finger white head, fair retention and no lacing. Smell is mild stonefruit, a bit of grassy herbal resin, touch of tropical fruit, followed by the standard Funk Factory minerality and mild-moderate acetic acidity, dab of oak. It's not so acidic as their other offerings have been in the past, has a bit of juniper on the backend as well- the gin isn't overwhelming here by any means, and the stonefruit-type flavour presumably comes from the dry hopping. Pretty damn tasty, and a bit of a twist on all the different sours and wilds on the market. Medium lighter bodied, nice mild dryness from the gin. Good carbonation, crisp and easy to drink. Its worth a try for sure.
