Poured from a growler into a tulip like glass.
Dark red body, nearly mahogany brown and quite dark. A one finger swiss cheese head manages a bit but has very light retention. A bit watery looking as well.
Aroma is pretty crazy but also very un-beer like smelling. Lots of fresh baked cake aromas, hints of cinnamon and coffee. A raisin quality very similar to a standard Belgian Dark Ale is quite evident as well. Comes out like a raisin coffee cake pretty much, very impressive.
Palate manages nut too many more surprises. Light bodied and nearly wet but still manages some mild malt depth. Mid palate fills with cake light sweetness, cinnamon, mild brown sugar. There's a little bit more surprises finding some mild tartness as well which goes into some nice cherry to other red buried fruit.
Fun neat beer overall, but skips out a bit of some malt flavors to go for the unexpected.
