Pours a touch thin but creates a thick khaki head that quickly dissipates leaving a thin layer across the top. The smell on this beer is completely off. Coffee comes through underneath but there is an off putting fruity sweetness that completely dominates the nose but not in a good way. Closest thing I could say is anise. That off putting sweet smell definitely subsides as it warms. The taste is leeps and bounds better than the nose but there are still this fruity funky note that still comes through occassionally. Otherwise it is sweet with maple on the front end; coffee and roast notes in the middle. It feels thickish and smooth with barely any carbonation. Overall this beer is good but would be better if it would have been aged in a regular bourbon barrel.

from the label how could one not be excited, especially with the success of jwb and infused ingredients. maple syrup, bourbon barrel, and kopi luwak you say? sign me up! but wait...no mention of an on the bottle? 14%!?!?! yowza. and boy does this pack a punch this brew tko'ed everyone at the tasting, but the flavors are on point. kind of like a dfh extreme beer done w better flavor integration. really tasty, but a beast of a beer. the heat isn't all that hidden either, but it doesn't need to be for this one.
