22oz bottle at the 2017 RIS tasting, thanks to Steve. poor planning on my part, but these last few have all had the breakfast/cinnamon roll spin going on, making it hard to discern one from the other. Not a bad thing, and this one was pretty good and delicious, but I can’t add much more than to say black pour, beige head, boozy aroma, roast malts, cinnamon, vanilla.

Pours a pitch black coloration with a small, creamy, mocha-colored head that quickly dissipates. Smells of caramel, slightly roasted malts and rich dark chocolate, with a strong cinnamon aroma and hints bourbon, dark fruits, vanilla, chiles and earthy oak tannins, as well as a certain sharp booze note. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by slightly roasted, caramel malts, rich dark chocolate and cinnamon, as well as ligher notes of dark fruits: plum, raisins, bourbon, earthy oak tannins and a light sherry-like oxidation note, as well as hints of vanilla and chiles. Finishes rather sweet, with a light bitterness and some dark fruits and earthy cinnamon lingering in the aftertaste, as well as some more chile heat coming through. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light carbonation.

This is quite a rich and complex stout, but just too much on the sweet and boozy side for my personal taste, with the strong cinnamon and slight cherry notes not really helping to balance things out here. It does have a certain earthy quality to it though that helps keeping things grounded, as well as a light, roasted bitterness at least. Still quite boozy after roughly 2 years as well. I actually drain-poured the last quarter of this because it was just way too sweet and boozy to finish in one session for my personal taste, your mileage may vary.

Good sweetness in the stout. Tastes of chocolate and some cinnamon. No bitterness whatsoever in this. Good mouthfeel, light head. Sweet smell. Great taste.

The initial flavor is primarily dark, bitter chocolate and cinnamon. There is a slight barrel presence, but the whiskey flavors are not pronounced. As the beer warms, the flavors of the adjuncts open up, making way for a nice dessert beer finish. Overall, this was a solid offering from JWB.

I didn't see this on BA which I found odd. This is batch 2 released at wakefest 2017z

Tan head. Black in color.

Thick and oily. You can smell the spices for a few feet away. The peppers are spot on and the cinnamon doesn't over power. Great chocolate notes and cacao nibs. The bourbon or whiskey barrels add a very nice warming flavor.

This beer is way better than it was on tap at wakefest. Very impressed with it.
