L: Black brew, red at the fringes. A think khaki head fades quickly and leaves no lace.

S: Smells of a dessert or pastry stout. Vanilla-heavy, macadamias, coconut cream, and carmelized sugars dominate. Not much stouty roast on the nose.

T: Pretty much follows. Unbalanced. Little stout backbone. Replaced by booze.

F: Decent viscosity and mouthfeel. Weight is a bit on the thinner side.

O: I was looking for a stout and got everything else. I tad heavy-handed on the additions, still drinkable for me.

A really nice aroma. A sweet marshmallow vanilla, a coconut chocolate candy bar, expresso like coffee, and nuttiness.

Doesn’t quite carry over to the flavor. Coconut is there, but subtle enough that I’m not sure I would have picked it out without knowing. Coffee is only noticeable from ashy/charred notes. It’s mostly sweet with some chocolate. I think most of it is drowned out by a bit of alcohol. Didn’t look at the abv, but it tastes a little boozy.

Drank on tap at LuLu’s Allston, Allston, MA
Served in a tulip

Fantastic appearance. The viscous, pitch black body was topped by inch tall, super tight and creamy, saddle brown head that slowly dropped to a think, foamy collar. Rings of sticky lacing coated the entire glass.

The nose was really rich and robust. Roasty with moderate vanilla notes. Somewhat nutty. Fairly boozy and sweet. Coffee was noticeable as well. The booze intensified as the beer warmed. Marshmallow notes also came forth. Bit of chocolate fudge too.

The flavor profile was also intense. Huge roasted malt presence up front. Super boozy. Whiskey-like and a touch hot perhaps. Chocolate fudge was noticeable. Espresso notes were also apparent. More roast and booze on the back end and the finish. The boozy heat and roasty notes lingered after the swallow.

Outstanding mouthfeel. Amazingly rich, thick and viscous. Completely full bodied for the style. The liquid contained a super fine, frothy, tongue blanketing effervescence.

Boss Tycoon falls somewhere between a roasty, boozy, old school imperial stout and a more modern, pastry-like rendition of the style. Although I would have liked more cocoa nib, coconut and vanilla flavors in this, it was quite enjoyable nonetheless.

750ml bottle, snifter glass. Dark cola brown body, nearly black, one finger offwhite head, fair retention and no lacing. Aromas of coconut, white chocolate, macadamia, milk chocolate, a bit of roast, sweet lactose, vanilla. It's adjunct heavy with a big sugary sweetness on the palate where there is sugary frosting sweetness, lactose, slight nuttiness, chocolate pound cake, vanilla. Mouthfeel is full bodied, thick and full of particulates that give it a big consistency, not too much heat on the backend. Very sweet stout with a nice adjunct sweetness to it.

On tap at Darkness Day
Your basic pastry stout done well. Sweet but not overwhelming. Vanilla, macadamia and coconut flavors stood out for me. Would seek this out in a trade.

On tap. Tan head. Black color.

A mess of adjuncts. Honey and marshmallow show the most. Some coconut with a lot of chocolate and cocoa. Rich, thick, a bit sweet and syrupy.

Muted black with burnt reddish-brown edges and a fuzzy, cream tan blanket quickly fading to a thin ring.

Smell is vanilla, coconut butter, macadamia nut, and the taste is much the same, adding really sweet honey, and a cloying note that verges on cherry cough syrup. Wow...this is not what I was expecting from either this beer description or the brewery. Any stout notes are drowned out by the overly sweet flavor additives.

Boss Tycoon has a soft froth but a light body and a dry finish.

I'm glad someone was generous enough to share this with me as I was prepping to go out of my way to get this bottle in particular. What an epic disappointment that would have been.

Look: Pitch black with thin khaki head.
Smell: Coconuts, molasses, mathmallows, and vanilla.
Taste: Coconut, vanilla, and marshmallows.
Mouthfeel: Complex and very smooth for the abv.
Overall: A great smooth imperial stout with the most adjuncts I've seen.
