Enjoyed poured from the tap at Lyon Bière Festival #3.
This collaboration work with Burial Beer Co. is a sweet sweet stout. Nice dulce presence (caramelized white chocolate), milk and balanced coffee. Quite sweet but never cloying nor boozy. Good job

Black with dark brown edges and a thick, puffy, airy mocha foam settling to a thin tan ring.

Smell is dark roasted malt, wafer, mixed nuts, cocoa, medium roast coffee and cola.

Taste is rich, smooth and thick amaretto-spiked coffee with chocolate, walnut, hazelnut and a slight sting of heat in the semi-dry swallow. A hint of mocha ice cream glides in as it warms.

Anyone who calls this jet black needs to try more stouts...lactose gives it a murky brown pour, light carbonation with minimal lacing from the alcohol. Lactose sweetness, chalkiness from the coffee, flavor is fantastic and the booziness is hidden. Very well done

16oz can, dated 2.13.18, poured into a J. Wakefield snifter glass.

The beer pours a deep jet black color, thick and viscous with a finger of khaki head that has little retention and yields a few spots of lace. The aroma is pleasant, strong coffee, nice roast, a bit of fruity acidity, light vanilla and marshmallow fluff, chocolate and roasted grains. The flavors are good, plenty of strong and rich coffee, bittersweet chocolate, smooth grains, a bit of stone fruits and some nice vanilla and sugary sweetness. The mouthfeel is great, thick full body, coats well and feels super smooth with an easy but warm finish.

Verdict: A really nice coffee stout from J. Wakefield and Burial. The coffee is expressed extremely well and offers some great nuances as opposed to being a cold brew coffee bomb. Rich, decadent, a really great evening sipper.

Pours a dark opaque color with a slight head and lacing. Aroma had a nice coffee hint. The taste follows the nose with a nice coffee taste. A well made well balanced beer.
