Bottle. Tan head. Thick. Oily.
The coconut shows the most up front. Fudge with some vanilla. Coffee isn’t really there. The calvados barrels show a ton in the finish. Almost adding a red wine/port flavor. Very complex. Full bodied. Thick.

The beer pours Pitch Black with a big beige head. It has medium low carbonation. The beer smells of coconuts, vanilla, nuts, cashews, and apple brandy. It tastes of coconuts, nuts, chocolate, and apple brandy. The feel is thick and chewy. A good barrel aged stout from J Wakefield.

200th beer reviewed! I think I like the non ba more. Looks oily in the glass with no head to speak of. A Little barrel in the nose but mostly you get a deep sweetness; nothing really comes out on it’s own, maybe a touch of hazlenut only. It tastes a little artificial however. Heavy on the flavor but once again nothing shining through on its own. A little bit of caramel from the barrel but there is something floating around in there that is clashing when you drink too big of a gulp, almost anise. Feel is spot on thick and oily as it should be. Overall it is good but I was expecting more especially considering the base beer.
