16.91oz bottle (500ml) poured into a snifter. This is a fresh bottle recently purchased from the brewery in Miami. Pours a pitch black color with extremely minimal head/lacing. On first whiff, the rum barrels stand out the most. Upon further inspection, the almonds and chocolate and quite pleasant and notable. I find the coconut to be extremely faint in the background and definitely overpowered by the other notes. Really thick chewy mouthfeel with very little carbonation. Dark chocolate brownies with almonds and rum is the best way to describe the decadent aroma. This is definitely dessert in a glass with a lot of sweetness. Very good beer! I was hoping for more from the coconut but the chocolate and almond notes are killer and the rum barrel adds great character.

Pours black with a decent amount of leakage to mahogany on the edges, underneath a foamy tan head that dissipates quickly. The first note I get on the nose is rich cocoa, which is followed closely by a boozy aroma and a nutty note. No sign of the coconut.

The taste is a full-on rich cocoa fusillade of chocolatey magnificence. If you don’t like chocolate, avoid this big beer at all costs. I love chocolate, so I’m literally licking the glass. The nutty flavor is more pronounced on the taste, and there’s a little coconut at the very end of the taste.

The mouthfeel is a little creamy, in line with a beer of this magnitude. My first beer from these guys, I need more of their stuff. World-class, IMHO.

Appears think and viscous. If there is a stout that tastes like almond joys candy bars more than this I would love to taste it. Quite sweet but also really delicious.

Collaboration with Other Half - tastes of almonds, coconut, chocolate, and molasses. Decent beer, but lacks the sweetness and flavor balance of some of the other J Wakefield brews.
