my lady was down in miami for what seemed like a very cool event to release this beer, an alligator bbq, a dj, tons of heady beers from these guys. she was thoughtful enough to bring me back a four pack of this, and i have been really enjoying it. something to do with the football rivalry between the local hurricanes and the gators. the beer is an incredibly dense yellow new england style ipa, and its really good. of course the absurd freshness helps, but so does all the hops in here, somehow done without really any bitterness, and to a degree of intensity rarely seen without some green hop bite accompanying it. its amazing just how much hops are packed in here, yet how it drinks so well refined. its one of the starchiest looking ones of these i have seen, white washed yellow with a ton of viscosity, not refined at all, but it has a good fluffy thick white head on it. aroma is pineapple, peaches, and white wine grapes, all at the peak of ripeness and bursting with juice, minimal cereal character behind them, some sweet lemon, and some good stinky weed. the flavor shows some mango as well, more pineapple, orange flesh, orange tic tac, and even coconut. its complex and must be using a bunch of different hop varietals, tropical and very florida, it even has a sort of humid texture to it, like when the air is so thick you just slow down, its got that kind of density about it, although the flavor keeps me downing it pretty quick. amazing hop intensity here, a long climax, and a good oily linger on the palate. that they did this without any appreciable over hopped characteristics is downright impressive. i love the beer, am thankful for it, and am only bummed that i missed the alligator cookout!
