A grape Berliner Weisse? Sure, why not. I’ve only had a few Wakefield Weisse’s and expect nothing less from them than a weird swing like this. All of theirs tend to be a bit on the thicker side but nothing ridiculous and still retain a nice complexity. Let’s see what this one is all about
Well, it’s not thick on the pour, but it looks quite gross. Pours a murky swamp green with a finger of off white head that quickly fades to nothing and leaves no lacing
Oh man, this is just straight up sour grape candy in the nose. I’m picking up on aromas of grape lollipop, tart white grape, lemon juice, light bready malt, and honey
In taste it has a bit more tartness to it which I appreciate. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart white grape, lemon juice, crackery malt, and grape juice. The swallow brings notes of tart white wine, grape candy, bready malt, lemon juice
A medium full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a sharp and tart beer. Finishes mostly dry with a nice bite
Disgusting looks and sweet candy aroma aside, this is a pretty decent beer. Nothing amazing but I can crush it pretty easily
