Espumita, Meng from Wakefield, 16 oz can. Purchased from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA on 20/02/23 for $ 6.50 (Including tax) - $ 0.406/oz. In reefer at store, stored at 34 degrees at home. Reviewed 04/03/23 (Review 3057). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom of the can “QUE RICO MENG 08/18/22”. Served at 44.9 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 50.1 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5.
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), translucent.
Body – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, translucent ruby.
Head – Average (Maximum 1.3 cm, aggressive center pour), almond, comes up slowly, high density with a rocky top, receding to a 0.15 - 0.2 cm crown and a large, thin island.
Lacing – Fair. Thin reticulum with mostly empty space.
Aroma – 3.5 – Weak coffee. No malt, no yeast, no hops. No ethanol (6.5 % ABV as marked on label) aroma.
Flavor – 3.5 – Weak coffee, slightly sweet. No hops, no malt, no yeast. No gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium; almost creamy; soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 Best thing about this beer is its appearance and that’s slightly above average. Otherwise, it’s just a lactose-loaded weak coffee with a shot of ethanol.
