Tally Me Banana was hit with a huge amount of banana, tons of coconut crème, vanilla wafers, and just a touch of vanilla. We decided to to get a little “strange and unusual,” just like Lydia Deetz, and brewed this sour with our El Jefe yeast strain to add to the banana character. What results it a refreshing, tart, tropical sour that just might have you dancing to the late great Harry Belafonte yourself!

Pours hazy, the color of eggnog or custard but darker. Produces a 1 finger foamy white head, dissipating quickly and leaving no lacing.
Initial aroma is similar to homemade banana extract without the alcohol smell, meaning that you can smell the banana but it's slightly grey and dull, and slightly smells like the peel. That sounds gross but it does smell good. There's maybe some coconut too but it's hard to tell. Agitating produces a yeast/funk, with banana smell remaining.
Initial taste before swallowing is a slight alcohol burn, like a clear alcohol, and banana in the form of esters/fumes. After swallowing I notice a little more alcohol taste, and the banana remains throughout the whole process, it's very clearly real Cavendish banana. It's surprisingly sweet, coming in the form of what feels like natural sweetness, but it feels heavy, and it's surprisingly intense. I find the aftertaste somewhat unpleasant, a little gag inducing. I love banana but when I've used homemade banana extract I've had the same result, and like I said, this has a very similar smell. I'm not sure if tasting any coconut or vanilla, but I feel I may be tasting a little vanilla, hard to tell. To be honest it was hard to finish this one.
Mouthfeel is heavy. It's got a creaminess for sure, and doesn't go down without resistance.
Overall I was really hoping to love this one, so I'm disappointed. It's not at all bad, but it hits a certain something in my throat/brain that doesn't quite agree. I guess it's the banana, which, established reasons aside, is a surprise considering it being one of my favorite fruits. Can't win em all I guess. Sorry to the folks who brewed it.
Won't buy again, but I'll try other things I find from the brewery.
