Abyss Chocolate Stout is a dark, full-bodied, stout with hints of cocoa and chocolate malt. Made with pure organic cocoa, this stout carries subtle hints of hops, and a full, smokey flavour. With a smooth finish and a subtle cocoa flavour that lingers on your palate, Abyss Chocolate Stout is distinctive and bittersweet. Rich and nearly black in colour, this stout is as dark as the abyss.

Pours a opaque black from the growler into a Duvel tulip, scant dark brown head that fades out to almost nothing, The nose is bittersweet chocolate, coffee, maltiness and darkly roasted barley. Very appealing! Mouthfeel is not very viscous at all, gently carbonated. Flavors of espresso and bitter roasted barley take the charge, then I get some espresso-like bitterness. Not much hoppiness at all...bitterness is supplied by the barley and the bitter chocolate tones. The finish is dryish, a bit thin but with terrific roastiness. Easy drinking and very tasty though I'm not getting any "Milk/Sweet Stout" characteristics. Not a bad effort at all from this recently opened brewery.
