On-draught in Lisbon. Cost was 4.20 euro/half pint
HEAD: Pale pink colour. Soft in appearance and billowing. Fluffy. Recedes within 2 minutes leaving no lacing.
BODY: Vibrant red with some turbidity. Nontransparent but translucent. No yeast is visible within.
Appears well-carbonated.
AROMA: Hibiscus, faint cherry (but not too medicinal), really subdued sourness (~1/10in terms of intensity), cherry. Tart.
Aromatic intensity is average.
TASTE & TEXTURE: Smacky sourness, merely a 1/10 in terms of intensity, but it's there. Tart cherries. Some tea-like hibiscus. Not real spicy at all; this lacks the intricacy of, say, Fantome. I also don't get any saison dupont-like funk.
Balanced albeit simple - especially for a saison. I do like it and it's really refreshing, but it does leave something to be desired in terms of intricacy.
Smooth, wet, light-bodied, supple. Well-carbonated.
OVERALL: Really refreshing and drinkable. It's a solid saison, and a great first Portuguese beer for me personally. I'd happily get it again, though the price is a bit steep.
