Complex, mysterious and deceivingly dangerous, our Belgian Dubbel is both easy-drinking and full of character. Inspired by one of our favorite recipes, this craft beer will keep you guessing with a plethora of distinct and delicious flavors: plum, raisin, spice, banana, clove, chocolate, brown sugar, and cherry can all be found in a single tasting! A hint of earthy spiciness with a sweet lingering caramel tone precedes a pleasantly warm alcoholic finish. By far our most expensive beer to create, our Dubbel pushes the limits of our lauter tun’s capabilities and delivers a beer worthy of the famed Trappist monasteries that originated the style.

On tap at the brewery, served in a stemmed tulip
The beer pours a deep ruby/mahogany with about one fingers worth of off white head that recedes slowly, leaving behind a fair amount of lacing
The aroma is sweet and bready, with stone fruit, cloves, caramel, banana, and a slight peppery/spicy scent
The flavor is bready and slightly sweet, with plums, raisins, clove, pepper, caramel, chocolate, and just a hint of banana. Medium/Light body, moderate carbonation, clean finish.
Overall this is a very nice example of the style

L-The beer pours a deep clear reddish brown. The head is a one and a half fingers of off white foam. The head recedes to a film and thick ring.
S- Plum right off the bat in the nose. Spice reminiscent of cloves follows through the middle. A bit of yeast at the finish.
T-The taste up front is a mix of fig and plums. That perfect spiciness mixed with brown sugar picks up mid sip and finishes out the sip. No alcohol detected. Really nice.
F-Mouthfeel overall is a solid medium. Carbonation is also medium.
O- One of the best American made dubbels I've had. If you like the style this one is worth trading for. Highly recommended.

750ml brown bottle, sample from the brewery.
I'm really not sure how much closer an American brewer can get to this style, seriously rivaling the Belgians with this one. Sugary and malty, bold yet approachable, bready and spicy, fruity and nutty. Warming but drinkable. It is obvious that the brewers have a tight grasp on this style. The understanding of its subtleties with all of it finesse is very impressive. This is one example that really pushes the benchmark higher for US brewed Belgian style Dubbels.

On tap in Greenville, SC.
Pours with a very clear dark brown body topped by a rather weak head. Decent lacing.
Aroma: partly as expected and slightly odd and a bit unpleasant
Flavor: better than the aroma. Hints of brown sugar, vanilla, and toffee. Modest complexity.Good aftertaste.
Feel: medium-light body. Seems too thin but it is smooth.
