On tap at the 2019 Ncmbf
Near black body with a very good beige head.
Aroma: OK for style, with some nice roasted grain and nut notes.
Flavor: follows the aroma but with a faint, unwanted sour note.
Smooth medium body.

had this beer at the brewery

The beer pours a deep brown, almost black, with mahogany highlights and a khaki head that recedes rather quickly

The beer has hints of chocolate and coffee, but is dominated by metallic and acidic aromas.

The beer is thin and acidic, and lacking most of the characteristics that make up a good porter. There are hints of chocolate and some toasty notes, but not nearly enough to make this beer drinkable.

Overall, I am quite disappointed, I really wanted to like this beer, but there are just too many issues with it to overlook...

Tap at the brewery.

Pours a dark brown, minimal light penetration, with a tan film for a head that retains as a ring.

Aroma is of coffee, toast, and hazelnut.

Flavor is of roasted coffee, hazelnut, woody hops, and a brown sugar finish.

Medium body with a sting of carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

Very good porter, lots of nice flavor and aroma in this one. The malts are nuanced and balanced, probably one of the better porters I've had in a long time. Very much worth stopping in to try this one.

Just a really well done porter. The Belgian yeast really adds to the depth of flavor.
