Okay, Illuminated Brew Works seems to get the most attention for their IPAs but this is an outstanding representation of a Belgian Dubbel. If you are into Belgians, give this a run.

Bought at The Beer Temple. A decent dubbel at the table, respectful and doesn't try to steal the show from the food. I drank this with pasta and pesto and the dubbel did fine (although I probably should have chosen a saison.)
Intimate Landscape's weakness is apparent in the pour; the yeast lets this dubbel down, it really lacks staying foam and protein swirls and shows little life. Smells respect the style's predominance of dark tree fruit, plus IL has some spice I can't ID. Tastes are well-balanced. This sits in my mouth fine enough; but an active yeast would make it all better.
I'm glad to return to IBW after panning them 4 years ago. We both probably have matured. But I probably still won't become a member of the cult. IBW dedicates this dubbel to an avant garde rock guitarist. This shows a nice fusion between brewing and, well, almost anything. Cheers !

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
